Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. Hamilton County Criminal History does not keep or log those entered search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
When a visitor emails us, the message may be retained so that we can respond. It is not shared outside our organization unless disclosure is required by a legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our servers may receive routine technical information when a page loads, including:
- Pages viewed and the time spent on them
- The visitor's device IP address
- Date and time information for page views
- Browser name and version
- Operating system and device category
- The referring website, when one is supplied
Cookies and Analytics
Small files called cookies help measure how the website is used, such as which pages receive traffic and where visits end. Analytics providers may combine that activity into aggregate reports. No Criminal-Record Data on File
Hamilton County Criminal History does not maintain, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal-record information. It publishes general directions to official Hamilton County and Nebraska custodians, including Hamilton County Sheriff, the County and District Court clerks in Aurora, the Nebraska State Patrol Criminal Identification Division, and the Nebraska Sex Offender Registry. This site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and information collected about visitors is not compiled into a consumer report or a record about another person.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes displayed on this website. Their privacy policies, not this policy, govern any information submitted through those tools. We do not control a partner's retention, processing, or disclosure rules. Review the applicable provider policy before entering a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Hamilton County offices, Nebraska courts and agencies, legal-aid resources, advertisers, or outside search services. Once a visitor follows an outbound link, the destination's privacy policy controls the visit. Its terms should be reviewed before personal information is supplied.
Advertising companies may use their own technology to follow activity across websites for targeted advertising. That processing occurs through their systems rather than ours.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal information is not sold. Data may be disclosed to:
- Analytics vendors measuring website traffic and performance
- Search partners processing a query submitted through their tool
- Advertising networks placing ads on the website
- Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, commonly used safeguards are applied to information we collect. No internet service can guarantee absolute security, however. We take steps intended to reduce risk but cannot promise that a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
The website is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If we learn that a minor supplied such information, we will delete it promptly.
Your Data Rights
Rights concerning data held by a private website depend on the law that applies to the visitor and the request. Nebraska's Public Records Act, sections 84-712 through 84-712.09, governs access to records held by public bodies, while section 29-3523 limits public dissemination of specified criminal-history outcomes. Those laws do not turn this private resource into a government records custodian. Subject to applicable law, a visitor may:
- Request deletion of personal information we hold
- Ask for a copy of personal information maintained about that visitor
- Request correction of inaccurate personal information
- Object to certain processing when the governing law provides that choice
